In business aviation, success is measured by precision and speed. Maintenance technicians must navigate complex engine and cockpit procedures under tight regulatory windows and high-pressure deadlines. Traditionally, this meant pulling aircraft or Full Flight Simulators (FFS) out of service assets that are far better utilized for actual flight operations.
With the WP5 (BrightSky WerkPakket 5) Smart Training initiative, JetSupport is changing the game. We’ve introduced a scalable VR procedure trainer designed to sharpen technical skills without grounding aircraft. Our objective is straightforward: safer training, leaner scheduling, and a faster rollout of new procedures across our maintenance network.
A Smarter Learning Ecosystem
WP5 is a structured digital environment for both initial and recurrent training. Technicians can now master procedures for specific aircraft and engine combinations within JetSupport’s portfolio. Whether it’s scheduled inspections, unscheduled repairs, APU support, or complex avionics upgrades, this platform bolsters our team's capabilities across the board.
By embedding VR into our ecosystem, we ensure that knowledge is transferred consistently and onboarding is accelerated. It allows us to maintain a high, unified standard of skill across all our certified European facilities.
Risk-Free Engine Run-Ups
Engine run-ups are critical, yet they represent one of the highest-risk tasks in maintenance. Traditionally, this required a live aircraft, a controlled environment, and constant senior supervision.
WP5 provides a realistic, didactically sound VR space where technicians can drill both normal and abnormal scenarios, repeatedly and safely. By the time a technician steps onto a live wing, they have already refined every complex step in the virtual world. This aligns with JetSupport’s commitment to transparency and safety: we create a measurable, controlled process before any iron starts turning.
Moving Beyond the Simulator
Full Flight Simulators and operational jets are resource-heavy and strategically vital. Using them for routine procedural training is often an inefficient use of energy and airtime.
By adding a VR layer to our training, JetSupport reduces its dependency on the FFS and minimizes the need for "instructional" aircraft use. This shift frees up resources, improves planning flexibility, and supports smarter allocation of our most valuable assets. It’s a move that directly supports our mission: maximizing aircraft availability through agile, reliable service.
Scalability Across Europe
With facilities in Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, and Nice, coordinating staff training used to mean heavy travel costs and operational downtime.
Digital VR solutions bring the classroom to the technician. Training can now be delivered on-site, on-demand. This flexibility allows us to deploy new knowledge across our European teams instantly, a major strategic advantage for an MRO focused on rapid, transparent support.
Faster Roll-Out of New Procedures
WP5 is built on a modular framework. This "authoring environment" allows JetSupport to model specific cockpit elements and Multi-Function Displays (MFDs) with ease.
The program already features advanced instructor panels and a fully developed F2000 automatic engine start procedure. Because the system is modular, we can integrate new cockpit configurations and procedures faster and at a much lower cost than traditional methods. In a sector where avionics and modifications evolve overnight, this agility keeps us (and our partners) ahead of the curve.
Data-Driven, Targeted Growth
What sets WP5 apart is its reliance on data. By analyzing real-world operational data from our maintenance activities, we can pinpoint exactly where delays or inconsistencies occur.
Instead of forcing technicians through generic, "one-size-fits-all" refreshers, we provide targeted, just-in-time training. We focus only on the procedures that need attention, increasing proficiency without bloating the workload.
Innovation with a Purpose
Since 2001, JetSupport has been defined by flexibility and personal service. WP5 Smart Training is the next evolution of that mission. By blending immersive technology with hands-on maintenance expertise, we’ve built a safer, more efficient training culture.
For operators, the benefit is clear: you are partnering with an MRO that doesn't just deliver excellence today but is actively engineering the future of aircraft availability.
